Discover Tuscan Wines
Although over 80% of Tuscany’s output is red, some outstanding white wines from the Vernaccia grape are also produced here.
About Tuscany
Tuscany’s idyllic countryside inspires over 90 million tourists annually, who happily slake their thirst on the region’s iconic wines. Sangiovese leads the charge for reds and must comprise 70% of wines from the Chianti appellation and 80% if from the smaller Chianti Classico zone. Rebellious producers moved outside tradition in the 1970s and created a new style of wine dubbed ‘Super Tuscans’ based on varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. These wines are sometimes blended with Sangiovese but are not legally required to do so.
